Savegames not working with ScummVM

I've downloaded a few savegames from various Monkey Island fan sites to use with Scumm VM. I have put the files in the ScummVM folder and renamed them as s01, s02, etc, as they are written by the program. Whenever I try to load them up, it simply says "Invalid Savegame." What now?

those were probably made using the original interpreter and hence are not compatible with ScummVM
