If you rename it to icon-72.png you can still use it for the ipad and keep the original one for the iphone.
Oh yeah, and since it's officially been announced, an icon@2x.png (114 by 114 pixels) for the iPhone 4 would be nice, too...

I used atombone1180's first icon in this thread for my iphone 4 and it looks great, no problems.

I committed the third icon to SVN a week or two ago, so that should be included with the daily builds .
