I installed Monkey Island 2 last night and run it through ScummVM, but I cannot access the game's save/load menu with F5 - what is the deal here? Can it not be accessed in ScummVM? Please help, I want to be able to save the oldskool way!

F5 should work fine in ScummVM
however:
- if you have a multimedia keyboard, maybe you activated additional functions so F5 does something different (does F5 work for you in other programs?)
- same with notebooks
- there are posts on the forum about similar problems with Mac too
