I'm having a few problems with certain games...

Post by Meleeboy0 »

Well I couldn't find a single tutorial anywhere to help me patch the DLDI file for my R4, but I was able to manage after doing some serious research in every single readme I could find. But I'm having problems with the actual games themselves.

Like Secret of Monkey Island for instance, I have the original CD Version, and all it has is MONKEY.000, MONKEY.001, and a bunch of track--.ogg files. The thing is, when I load it in ScummVM DS, there is no Audio. Now before you flame me, I searched a good bit and I wasn't able to find anything that could help me answer my particular question.

My other question I had was if CMI worked? I assume not because there probably isn't enough Ram. But I was just curious as to whether the later versions ever got any new features done. :P

Anywho thanks for taking the time to read, and I appreciate any advice given.

according to http://scummvm.drunkencoders.com/index.htm#FAQ :
Ogg format (monster.sog) and flac format files are not currently supported by ScummVM DS, and it is unlikely they will ever be supported.
for compatibility, see http://scummvm.drunkencoders.com/index.htm#whichgames - and you're right, there's not enough memory for CoMI

Oh, but is it possible to convert the Ogg files to MP3 or Wav?

EDIT: Btw I also have a CD version that my friend let me borrow, but it has a few different files in it, there are no Ogg files. There is a SoundBlas.IMS, Speaker.IMS, and Roland.IMS. Do these have anything to do with the audio files? Or are they not involved at all?

Dude, the Ogg files are certainly *not* from the original Monkey Island CD release, the Ogg format was invented a decade later. Those only come with warez copies! So it doesn't sound as if you have the "original" version to me...

If you were to own the original, you could rip the CD audio tracks on the original CD again to get MP3 or FLAC audio tracks, though.

The official SummVM DS site has:
"How to Get ScummVM DS Onto Your DS - Using a CF/SD/Mini SD/Micro SD card reader and a DLDI driver"
http://scummvm.drunkencoders.com/#dldi

Admittedly isn't not specific to your card reader, but the R4DS is pretty straightforward.

The official SummVM DS site has:
"Converting your CD audio"
http://scummvm.drunkencoders.com/#cdaudio

And on this forum on the very first page of threads is one that asks this exact same question:
"Can I convert back from ogg"
http://forums.scummvm.org/viewtopic.php?t=3880

Guess what? It's on the official site:
"What games are compatible with ScummVM DS"
http://scummvm.drunkencoders.com/#whichgames

All of the information on the official site is also in the readme.txt included in your download. Please read this in future.
