3ds version freezes on old3ds when adding games

So I've downloaded the most recent version of scummvm for 3ds and while the application boots fine, adding games just freezes the application. I thought maybe it was because I had a game which was too big, but no, I tried adding og kings quest 1 on it and it still froze. I haven't really seen anyone else have this issue, so I'm wondering what's up. Also I tried mass add as well and the results were the same as the others. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
