Optimal audio settings

Post by dfabulich »

I'm interested in figuring out the "best" audio/MIDI settings for all of my old ScummVM games, especially LucasArts and Sierra games.

(I recognize that "best" may be somewhat subjective, but I think for most games there are at most two or three candidates for "best," e.g. one person might prefer MT-32 and another person might prefer a FluidSynth soundfont, etc. but Adlib is definitely *not* best.)

I've read the Audio docs on docs.scummvm.org and I've tried to find information like this on the wiki, but I'm not finding it. Plus, information like this tends to vary, even for games that use the same engine. Some SCI games were designed for MT-32, others were designed with General MIDI support, etc.

Is there some documentation about this that I'm missing? Would it be appropriate to add documentation on this to the ScummVM wiki, e.g. to add a "Recommended Audio Settings" section to each game?
