Corrupt PQ2 resources - Atari ST

Post by TrivialBalderdash »

I've recently purchased a Greaseweazle and have been creating images for the non-DOS games I've purchased over the years, with priority given to those which run in ScummVM of course.

The Atari ST version of Space Quest 2 worked perfectly in ScummVM.
When I got to Police Quest 2, the disks copied without error, they were recognized by ScummVM, but gave me an error immediately upon launch. (2.7.0 on Linux/Arm, also replicated on 2.7.0 on Mac/Intel, and 2.2.0 on Mac/Intel)

The debugger printed "ERROR: Script 0 not found!"
Running ScummVM with debuglevel=5, I can see the following:
WARNING: Error 6 occurred while reading view.19 from resource file RESOURCE.001: Unknown compression method!
WARNING: resMAN: Failed to read view.19!
...
and then similar errors for view.13, and vocal.1541

The few instances I found in the bug tracker would suggest that this is a corrupt resource, but the disk did copy without error and was recognized by ScummVM (so at least the first 500 bytes of the file are good :D)

Would someone with a working Atari ST copy, ver #1.001.006 mind sharing the hash for RESOURCE.001?

For my copy

Code: Select all

shasum -a 256 RESOURCE.001
gives me:
6d78890418bac259d312fcb1857f43fd96618eda8a487ee9b35cbca425d5f3c7

If it's confirmed my copy matches a known good copy, I'll submit a bug report. Otherwise, I'll assume I have a corrupt file and move on.

Thank you!

EDIT: Ticket submitted here -> 14798
EDIT #2: Corrupt file...
