Longest Journey Cutscene Audio Quality on Windows Only

Post by choobs »

I'm having an issue with the Longest Journey that I hadn't seen reported anywhere.

When I am using the Windows version of ScummVM 2.7.0 and play The Longest Journey, the audio for the cutscenes sound like the speakers are underwater. I can recreate it on two different windows systems with completely different hardware and the issue is present in 2.5.0 and 2.6.1. If I run the exact same source files on a Linux or Apple device, the audio sounds fine. If I run the GOG version natively, it sounds fine as well. I can reproduce this within ScummVM with the GOG version, the Steam version, and my original CD version (I've bought this game too many times...)

I've have videos showing the difference on the same computer running the same files, though I can't attach them here. Other Windows games (Curse of Monkey Island and Grim Fandango for example) seem fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
