Losing coaches’ names

In Backyard Football 1999, I recently played my way into the Super Colossal Cereal Bowl with the 49ers on hard difficulty, but then when I came back to play it, just before that, all the coaches names were deleted off the list. Anyone wanna know how that happened and how to undo it?
