Weird bug when playing Backyard Baseball

For some reason on random occasion when playing Backyard Baseball (1997), the debugger randomly shows up, and says that the "cursor state is greater than 1 in script." I'm not really sure what that means, and whenever I try to exit the debugger, the game closes. Any ways to fix this? Thanks.
