King's Quest VII in ScummVM

Post by cachaito »

I already know, that ScummVM uses original files straight from CD-ROM to run games and there's no way to use official game patches released by authors back in a day. That's why I wonder if Kings Quest interpreter "uses" somehow patched game version from http://sierrahelp.com/Patches-Updates/P ... dates.html (ZIP File King's Quest VII Patch (KQ7PAT) (ZIP file) [76 KB])

Best regards, Bart

Nope, all the fixes to those bugs (and more) are done within scummvm code.

I believe I've read that we recommend running the latest version of the game which is 2.0 or 2.0b if I am not mistaken.

ScummVM still detects older version of the games, and will apply bug fixes based on their version, that our developers implemented.

The patch you linked says in one of the readme files that it's intended only for versions 1.4 and 1.51 of the game. I don't think I found what the version number it is supposed to be patching to. Anyway, if you have those original versions, then you can "apply" the patch and see how ScummVM detects it. In my estimation it will then detect the game as a higher version than 1.51.

Thank you guys form info. I'm happy that ScummVM implements bug fixes to every version of the game by it own. Nice to hear about that!
