Help with old poiint and click game

Post by bladeturbo1973 »

Hi, i have this game ghosts (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0438057/). it's a very obscure game so i wasn't able to find any help getting it to run on scummvm. basically, you install a shortcut which list the exe with the cd drive at the end. it runs strictly off the cd. I've been trying to see how other games handle cd games, but i can't get it to work. any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you

This game is not supported by ScummVM, therefore you can't use ScummVM to run it. I recommend to try DOSBox or an emulator like PCem.

If MobyGames is right (https://www.mobygames.com/game/ghosts) the game does not have a DOS version, so DosBox will most likely not work. PCem or maybe a virtual machine (VirtualBox) would have more chance to launch the game.

There's also winevdm https://github.com/otya128/winevdm to run old 16bit apps on 64bit Windows, but I've had varying success using it -- typically it will launch the old app, but it then may throw some obscure error. It is actively developed though, and I've only used the latest 0.8.1 stable version.
