Nuked AdLib issues

Post by thethreeheadedmonkey »

I was delighted when I found out that ScummVM now also includes nuked, seeing as it's supposed to be the most accurate OPL3 emulator (at least according to the Vogons forum).

However, when I started up Space Quest 3, I couldn't help but notice a weird faint whistling sound that appeared to be in the rythm of the intro's main melody. This whistling doesn't appear with both other AdLib options (MAME and DOSBox).

To check whether this issue had already been identified and fixed, I tried both stable and development nightly builds. Not only was the whistling still there, but the music (or the game, couldn't tell which) now also repeatedly slowed down and became choppy.

This doesn't appear to be an issue with the nuked emulator itself, when tested with DOSBox-ECE (which includes nuked) Space Quest 3 sounds fine.

It is likely that games other than Space Quest 3 are affected as well.

additional: I'm using ScummVM 64bit on Windows 7.
I've also added output_rate=49716 to all my AdLib games in the scummvm.ini, as recommended in the DOSBox configuration file.
