Hotspot markers for all engines / ScummVM games?

Is it conceivable/possible to include a global hotspot marker system for all LA, Sierra and other games?

I can't quote on the LucasArts or Sierra games, but for some of the other games it'd definitely be possible. Of course, the real question is, if such an API did exist, what would it be used for? It's kind of pointless for the game to expose it's hotspot list without ScummVM actually doing something with it. Would it to be allow ScummVM to automatically highlight them, for example?

If you're a developer, you can always try implementing it yourself, and implement one or more engines to use it, and then do a pull request. Or if you're not a developer, you can always use the bug tracker to submit a detailed description as an enhancement request. If it sounds useful, maybe one of the developers may choose to do it.
