Android TV mouse issue?

Post by woutervh » Mon Jan 15, 2018 9:19 pm

Hello all,

I wanted to use my mi box to let the kids play put-put on the television. To accomplish that, I connected a wireless mouse to it. As scummvm was not natively in the play store, I sideloaded it.
It works, but I have 2 cursors. In the scummvm main window, I have a mouse pointer and a cross, which are some space apart. Only when I click, they come together. Also to click a button, you have to click above it, and drag onto it.
When I'm able to start a game, the mouse pointer is always there, together with the in-game cursor.
Can this be fixed?

By "mi box", I assume you mean a Xiaomi Mi Box which is running Android TV 6.0.

I am not sure why you needed to sideload as the latest stable version of ScummVM v2.0.0 should be available in the Google Play store on that device:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... vm.scummvm

Try that version instead... If not, then let us know where you got the APK which you have sideloaded so we know what version you are running i.e. is this from the buildbot nightlies?

Yes, correct
I'm talking about a Xiaomi Mi box, running android TV 6.0
Last time I checked, I was unable to find it in the play store. But it is possible that I checked before the release of 2.0.0. and did not check after...
However, I sideloaded "Android package for all platforms" v2.0.0

Hmm. I would still recommend uninstalling the current sideloaded APK and loading the ScummVM from the Play Store and testing to see if that resolves the issue.

If not, then file a bug on the tracker at http://bugs.scummvm.org/

I checked yesterday, and it's not in the playstore of Android TV...?
Will file a bug later on.
Is there a tutorial somewhere of how to compile the android version? With tools needed etc...? Then I can have a look myself

Odd, though we might not be marking this as compatible with Android TV. The platform specific code is mainly in:
https://github.com/scummvm/scummvm/tree ... rm/android
https://github.com/scummvm/scummvm/tree ... androidsdl

Compilation help and instructions can be found at:
http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Developer_Central
http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Compiling_ScummVM
http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Compi ... VM/Android
http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Compi ... ndroid-SDL

And yes, we do have two Android platform backends. One uses the newer port of SDL to Android, the older one directly uses Android's APIs.

I am not an expert but maybe the place where compatibility is marked might be:

https://github.com/scummvm/scummvm/tree ... ts/android
https://github.com/scummvm/scummvm/tree ... androidsdl

Hi, I have a similar problem and didn't want to start a new topic.

I have sideloaded the app (Android ARMv7a package) on my Amazon Fire TV stick. I see both pointers, the ScummVM one and the Fire TV stick one, apart from eachother and with every click the ScummVM pointer jumps to the Fire TV pointer. If I hold down any mousebutton it seems to work but I guess this would be as uncomfortable as dragging the cursor across the screen by changing modes. Any idea how to fix this? Or am I out of luck because of the system?
EDIT: Nevermind, I got rid of the problem by disabling the TV borders :-)

Is there a way to hide the Android cursor in ScummVM? I'm also using an android TV box and I have two cursors. Thankfully they are always aligned but it's still mildly annoying.
