Gobliins win edition

Post by tumbleweed »

Hello,

I've seen in datafiles there is some "Win" versions for Gobliins 1,2,3. Never got accross with them.

How are them compared to Goblins DOS CD and Goblins Floppy?

Does somebody know the exact box or product thourgh a link somewhere to identify if this buy can be still purchased?

Thanks!

As far as I know, you can only find them on the CDs of Addy educational games. They are normally accessible in-game as a reward for learning well. Their EXE are modified to only run when supplied with a random-looking integer parameter, but of course ScummVM doesn't care.

IIRC, they are identical to the DOS floppy versions. One exception: The Gobliiins version comes with AdLib background music similar to the Mac floppy version.

Thanks!

Does this mean there is actually 3 OST?
The adlib one in DOS floppy, the CD Audio Track and the Win Midi one?

Nope. For Gobliiins, the original DOS floppy version doesn't come with any music. The CD version has CD audio track, the Mac version AdLib tracks, and the Windows ".mid" files are the same AdLib tracks as the Mac version. They are not standard Windows MIDI files.

Sorry I meant Gobliins 2 and 3, I know first one is the exception being muted!

Naw, Gobliins 2 and Goblins 3 Windows are identical to the DOS floppy versions.

Don't ask me. I only know that the Gobliiins Mac floppy version contains AdLib tracks. Whether and if so how they're played, I have no clue.

Well, the CD versions use different music (CD audio tracks) and have recorded speech instead of gibberish "gob speak".

In that regard too, the Windows versions are like the DOS floppy versions, using AdLib music and gob speak.
