i have a similar problem, mine crashes after the first line of dialog by the police man. but it returns me to the wii menu. I'm using the latest Wii version and i have all the files needed for Broken sword according to the wiki.

works fine for me. try this:
* remove your scummvm.ini in /apps/scummvm
* move the game out of /apps/scummvm, use eg. /scummgames/sword
* try again

thx,

ok i moved the game to the root of my SD card, no luck. i deleted the scummvm.ini file and still no luck.
bit i have a bit more information:

I'm using the version of scummvm available from the HomebrewBrowser application

i also have "Loom" and "Sam and Max: hit the road" in /apps/scummvm with save games (these work fine)

the game crashes when the sentance "zis bombing iz an outrage, iz it not" (said by the larger policeman in mustard jacket) is finished, with no time for any actions. not even a cursor apperars.

hm, hard to tell whats going on.

now try this if you find the time ;)
* backup the content of your sd card
* reformat the card with the fat16 filesystem
* copy the backup onto the card again. copy all folders at once, do not start more than one copy job at a time (the files will get fragmented)
* eject or safely remove the card
* try again

OK, I'll give that a try, at the moment it's formatted to FAT32
and it was only formatted a few days ago.

EDIT: OK, new problem. i can only format my SDcard to FAT or FAT32.

2nd EDIT: i downloaded a utility that will format to FAT16, i've tested it and no luck. I'm having the same problem.
does saying that I'm using a 1GB SanDisk Read/write SD card and the latest wii firmware and homebrew channel help?

you probably didn't now this but FAT is in fact FAT16. in xp/vista they just call it FAT

also here is another hint if it still doesn't work: put only one game on your sd card

crashes in the exact same place for me on the wii version. "zis bombing is an outrage is it not",
works fine on the pc, tried it on my mates psp, also works great!
possibly a scumm wii bug?

well ive figured out the problem, not the answer i wanted though, dont compress anything.
whenever i try to use OGG music files it always crashes in the pub, if i use the origional WAV Music files it works fine. Ive tried this several times over just to be sure, WAV works, OGG crashes in pub eeeevery time

OGG compression seems a little dodgy with the Wii port. Try mp3 compression using lame v3.97, NOT v3.98.
