Thanks for the MD5 checksum, I've added it to the latest SVN version (the MD5 checksum is the same as the one of the English version). Would it also be possible to install the game via its original installer and supply the MD5 of rtzcd.dat as well? (cause we don't have that entry)

(rtzcd.red is the compressed version, whereas rtzcd.dat is the uncompressed version of rtzcd.red, created from the game's installer)

I will try installing it tonight.

Thanks for the quick addition into the source code. But now I remember why I didn't play this game back at the time I got it: The translation is horrible: who translated "the sign" in the first screen (referring to a signpost) into "das Zeichen"? It looks like they used some cheap web translation tool for the job:
Image
I'm not going to comment on the translation of "put the stone in the inventory" ("Den Stein ins Lager legen")... And these are all things I found on the first screen... I don't even want to think about what awaits me further into the game...

Oh, and the german characters are not shown correctly (or rather, not at all), see for example this image:
Image

It should read "Berpaß" and not "Bergpa"

I wonder if I can grab a cheap english copy of the game on eBay...

Here's the MD5 of the .dat file, taken from a fresh install in DosBox (complete with complimentary Bad Translations(tm))
"rtzcd.dat", "9d740378da2d16e83d0d0efff01bf83a", 525824

Point ScummVM to the folder where your Italian version is and ScummVM will tell you the required MD5s in its console window

Perhaps it'll be possible to override the broken strings with valid ones in ScummVM? (Beneath a Steel Sky patches at least one translation error on-the-fly)

My version isn't recognised:

"rtzcd.red", "c4e2430e6b6c6ff1562a80fb44a9df24c"

It's the UK English standalone version, none of the other Zork games on the disc or anything. My RTZCD file is 270KB.

Hope I've helped :)

I also have an unrecognised version.

It's a UK English CD that came with a CD-ROM drive many many years ago.

"rtzcd.red", "c4e2430e6b6c6ff1562a80fb4a9df24c", 276466
