Extracting Voice From Sm and Max

Hii d:

This is the first time im wirting here so hello!

im 18 years old from israel and i wanted to ask someting

how do i extract the voice from the game and re record on in so it will be heard on the game? (BS I want to translate the game and recording voice acting)

so it will be very very help full and you will see resultes soon :D

check out the source code for compress_scumm_sou - that tools extracts a voice file from the game, compresses it, then copies it back in - it should be possible to change that so that it copies in another file which you recorded yourself for each sentence.

Please keep in mind that you probably won't be able to legally distribute the resulting monster.so3/sog since it will still contain parts of the original game

But redistributing a binary patch that only contains the modifications should be legal enough, I guess.

This patch would most likely be several hundreds of megabytes though :)

We're talking about stupid legalese stuff, not about technical considerations :)

If the only legal way is to provide:
a) code that decompresses the original MONSTER.SOU
b) WAV files that override some of the sounds
c) code that regenerates the new MONSTER.SOU

then why not!

i need the game to be in a pure wav

but to compress it, the individual files have to be in a format supported by lame/oggenc/flac - so I assume that's either .voc, .wav or some raw data, which can easily be converted
