Monkey Island SegaCD

Post by Kicklighter »

Hi,

Great work the new beta release of ScummVM, just downloaded it and till now it worked as it should be. Anyway, I'm trying to play the SegaCD version of Monkey Island but what are the controls? Means in dailogs I can't point a text cause it just randomly selects one for me or maybe it seems so...

Can someone be so kind and explain them to me or in wurse case scenario sum them up although I think that would be even nessasery.

Thanks,

Paul

It will hardly surprise you that I've never seen the SegaCD version of Monkey Island, so your guess is as good as mine!

If the controls are significantly different from the other versions, it is likely the game won't work correctly on the DS.

The DS controls are on it's website:

I vaguely remember a bug report for strange behavior like that from ages ago, not sure what came of it

The SegaCD has indeed some differing controls. For example, to select dialog options, number keys are used. Look at engines/scumm/input.cpp for references to "sega" to get some ideas and a pointer to a bug report.

Hi,

You're right about that certain features in the game are controled by
numbers. When taling to a pirate and you want to select a different dialog, in the dos version you can easly point this with your stylus. But when playing the SegaCD version things can only be changed when you hit 6 (up) or 7 (down). Easier can it be done when doing this with the mousewheel but this maybe something for in the furture builds to come...I hope, this will
stop me from popping up that virtual keyboard. Doesn't make gameplay joyful,

If you can provide me with a list of changed controls I can look at adding a mode for it.

Hi,

I played Monkey Island till the part the Swordmaster is defeated. Okay this are the control at the moment that need to be changed maybe further in the game when more progres is made maybe then that then more controls need to be changed but that seems very unlikly; the 6 (up) for scorling in game context one level higher. The 7 (down) for scorling in game context one level down. At the opening scene where is shown whoes many hours of sweat gone into the game, there you can see hit START when I push the actually start key nothing happens. The game only continues when I hit the B key.

Could you release in the next beta of ScummVM those changes? That would make me very happy!

Hi,

Missed a detail.
When je select a line when talking for example to a pirate it does not select the line you choose with your stylus. Could you
change it so that it selects the line you disire. Unstead the current situation that you first select with (6) or (7) a line and touch anywhere on the screen.
