No sound for any SCUMMVM run program under Xandros Linux

I'm running Xandros linux, and I can get the game to function without sound. The speakers are on, it is not muted, and none of the sound functions seem to be able to communicate with the sound card. I am thinking this is due to some form of direct denial by the sound system itself, but I am uncertain, and not sure on how to fix it if it were the case. I have the full CD of Day of the Tentacle and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, and neither of them can play sound. I also copied them to a directory on the hard drive, as sometimes the CD drive cannot read music when dealing with programs, but that has not fixed the issue. Anyone got any ideas?

Sound has always just worked for me, so I don't really know. Does ScummVM print any useful warning messages if you start it from a command prompt? Do you get sound when using other programs than ScummVM?
