Is that legal?

Post by Krest »

Isn't it illegal to distibute those games? Especially in connection with the ScummVM logo and site graphics?

It certainly is! I predict a riot - and the rapid closure of this site 8)

I hope the people behind it *do* get sued, their house(s) raided, their assets seized and generally have a really bad time! However with UK law they'll probbaly get a tap on the wrist and asked not to do it again :(

The apparent owner of the site, Mr. James Hall, is apparently a registered non-profit organisation in the UK... I guess their tax men are a lot more tame tho. If it was a US company, I'd just report them to the IRS :)

legal@lucasarts.com is the other alternative, they have people with unmarked black vans and sniper-rifles capable of delivering summons from 800m. Even if Tony is closer, I doubt Revolution has such good pirate-hunting gear in the closet :)

It seems that all they sell in their shop is illegal, not only the ScummVM games DVD.

Thanks to Krest the right people have been informed about this copyright infrigement, now :!:

If anyone finds a site like this, please let the people in the forum know.
We need to protect the ScummVM-project to keep it free from attacks.

One thing to do so is to dry the illegal distribution of the copyrighted games.

Is it just me, or has he deleted the post on his forums encouraging him to remove the product from his site?

Yes, he did. I had it open in a browser tab and it was gone after a refresh last night...

He's also openly admitting to pirating GBA games on his forum, this guy is unbelievable...

That it's obviously the same cover/guy... so he should know that what he's doing is illegal... that's all

No, it's not. What makes you think that?

He posted a high-res version for everyone to use, don't you think it's more probable that someone else printed it out and (ab)used it instead?

The person who created the cover is from Sweden, our guy is from the UK.
I've done some digging and am convinced they're not the same person.

Please do some research before you point your finger :)
