Newbe doesn't get it... Treo 650

Post by ikey »

Hi there!

I really don't get it. I know that there are some posts that could help me perhaps, but until now I tried for about 4 hours! please help!

I installed the skin.pdb and the ScummVM-Frontend.prc files via Hotsync to my card.
I put the scumm.engine file in the created mods-directory.
When I start scummvm I can choose which engine to use. I doesn't matter which one i select, everytime the same "scummvm enine file was not found" error...
I'm sure, I've copied the file in the correct directory.

There were hints to use direct mode... What is it? Does it help?

Thx a lot!

be sure to select your memory card by tapping the card icon at the top right of the scummvm launcher

Hi glokidd!

I read about this, but didn't find any card icon... there is just the screen to select the engine... that's all... no icon in any corner...
Perhaps in the mysterious "direct mode"?

Greetings!

just in case re-synch skin.pdb, the card icon is visible on the top right of the scummvm menu. it is a small blue icon beside a lower case i in a blue circle
the menu when you start generally should look like this

direct mode is acessable by pressing start from the menu with no game selected (if you already have something highlighted you can de-select it by tapping it again) and works just like the pc version of scummvm but generally its better to use the launcher

hope that helps

Now I got it!

Thank you, glokidd!
After realizing that scummvm just didn't find the the skin.pdb file and so I couldn't select the sd-card as used device, I thought about moving the prog to the internal memory and - finally - it works just fine!
I didn't know that it has to be installed that way, didn't read anything about this anywhere... Now it's clear to me what is meant by direct mode etc...

Great!
And thank you once again!

you're so right!

loved scummvm on my mac playing the old dos-games. But playing it in the train or everywhere I want to without carring any Laptop with me is just great!

And extraordinary that there is someone who compiles it for Palm OS...

I have no idea how to get my Treo 650 to install the engine files let alone any games.

I tried putting them in the Expansion Card section of palmOne Quick Install but it apparently doesn't even bother installing them when I try that.

Anyone have any ideas?

you will need to place the engine files manually on your card via a card reader. They are relitively cheap these days and a handy thing to have around if you use sd cards a lot.

Place the engines in the /PALM/Programs/ScummVM/Mods/ folder

That's what I was afraid of, heh. I just got my SD card for my phone today, I got a 2gb card for only $25 so I was excited to try ScummVM on my phone, but I guess I'll have to wait again.

im sure this is a little late but you can use this program

http://mytreo.net/downloads/details-220 ... le_Browser

to transfer files to your treo (or other palm device im assuming) instead of using a card reader. :D

it works great.
