PS4 Port

Post by Cognoscenti »

Good evening,

I was wondering when we'll get a PlayStation 4 version?

At least when there is an open-source toolchain to develop homebrew applications with full support of graphics and sound.

Hi Eugene,
Thanks for your answer and sorry for the delay of my reply.

OpenOrbis cannot offer that ?

It looks promising, but it is at v0.5.3 currently and the roadmaps notes indicate that debugger functionality is intended for v0.6 "v0.6 - Debugging tools (debugger, VS integration)." and the fully stable release will be v1.0 "v1.0 - Stable release that works smoothly and has header discrepancies mostly resolved." ... Apart from this, we would need a porter who has a PS4, technical capability with C/C++ on embedded targets and a desire to port ScummVM to their PS4 ... Applications for this position will be taken :)

Just wanted to mention that the unofficial RetroArch PS4 port by OsirisX includes a ScummVM core. It is an older version (v2.1.1), but even back then many games were already supported and - contrary to PS3 - on PS4 Roland music (MT32) works well.
Btw. it is the same version (v2.1.1) of the ScummVM core that is included on PS3 in the unofficial RetroArch Community Edition by Crystal.

If you need the correct v2.1.1 files with the engine data for the respective 'data' folder then those can be obtained from here: https://downloads.scummvm.org/frs/scummvm/2.1.1/
Just get those files from the PS3 version.

Last but not least: Are you guys (ScummVM staff) aware that for more than a year there has been an unofficial build of ScummVM for PS5? Highly recommended. :D
