Engines not working in 2026.1.0

Post by nozomi »

I've been testing the current 2026.1.0 release on the Dreamcast and have found a few engines that do not seem to detect any games.

The AGI engine seems unable to detect any games. Tried King's Quest 1, 2 and 3, Space Quest 1 and 2, Gold Rush and others.

The AGOS engine detects and works great with DOS English version of Personal Nightmare, but cannot detect the DOS english versions of Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2, Waxworks or Eliva II.

The Parallaction engine also seems unable to detect the DOS or Amiga versions Nippon Safes.

I've been doing some extensive testing on the Dreamcast and would be happy to post results of what does work if there is interest.

100%. I have lost a couple weeks to this at this point. Thought I was doing something wrong. Same KQ and SQ games. LSL1 as well. Thanks

Also, maybe this has been addressed at some point on another post, or there is a work around I am not aware of. USB4Maple devices and ScummVM. Is it just not possible to save? I can save games to OEM VMU's but not through USB4Maple flash drives. This is weird since every other game saves fine through those. Dreamcast games, homebrew, prototypes, ports. The only problem has been ScummVM so far in my experience.

And given that these DOS games are using 28 to 64 blocks per save game, it sure would be swell if you could take advantage of unlimited VMU space. Or am I missing something?

Oh, and you can load save files, just not save them. I tested this by saving to a stock VMU, coping the saves to the USB4MAPLE openmenu.bin file, then coping those to the disc image .bin file that loads up with the ScummVM disc image... then loading the save games via the dreamcast. lol

But yea, kinda defeats the purpose if you cant save to it.
