Which games would you like to be supported on the future?

All the inane chatter goes in here. If you're curious about whether we will support a game, post HERE not in General Discussion :)

A game which I think uses Director, so I'm hopeful, is "Ceremony of Innocence". It's not really an adventure game, maybe. But I think it is extraordinarily good, and it's closer to being an adventure game than anything else.

Games which I think are good and would be worth supporting but probably don't have a base engine that spans multiple games (so it'd be less useful) would be The X-Files (Hmmm, didn't the two Quantum Gate games use the same engine?), Are You Afraid Of The Dark? - The Tale of Orpheo's Curse, Normality (it's 3D, so maybe it's out of scope), and Nine - The Last Resort.

Since ScummVM supports some RPG-adventure hybrids, it would be neat to have both Krondor games (Betrayal and Return), Betrayal in Antara, and eventually Qfg5 (although since that one is panned about as badly as KQ8, and this project is a labour of love by fans, I doubt anyone would want to pick that project up. Fair enough).

I'd love to see both the "X-files" and the "Krondor" titles as well. "Antara", from what I remember, I was not that fond of. But it would be fun to revisit it anyway.

Having support for both of the "Faery Tale" adventure titles, would certainly be nice as well.

I feel there is also kind of a lack of "Star trek" titles in ScummVM. "Star Trek 25:th Anniversary" and it's sequel "Judgement Rites" would be pretty sweet. Even sweeter, if it was followed by "Star Trek TNG: A Final Unity", a game that I remember rather fondly.

Would also be super-nice, to see new work on the "MacVenture" engine. "Deja Vu, Deja Vu II: Lost in Las Vegas, Shadowgate and Uninvited", would be some really welcome additions.

Another couple of titles, that raises my interest. Are "Alternate Reality: The City" and its sequel "The Dungeon". Very long ago, I drooled over screenshots & descriptions of the first game but never had the chanse to play it.

Finally, the third Gabriel Knight title "GK 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned" as well as *anything* from the "Tex Murphy" series, would be beyond awesome.. ;)

Yes, it is unfortunate that the work on Interplay's Star Trek games was never completed. Maybe some day.

Coincidentally, I actually re-read the blog about implementing Star Trek: 25th Anniversary to ScummVM earlier this week. Many GSoC blogs are interesting, others not so much, but the blog about Star Trek: 25th Anniversary is absolutely the best. The game is good, but even the blog is very well written. It's not too technical, and it has many pictures to clarify what the writer is talking about, but is still detailed enough to let the reader know about the challenges of rewriting the code.

The Star Trek text adventures from the 1980s would be a nice addition to ScummVM too.

I see...thanks for the link, that was a very interesting read! It is a bit frustrating to realize that essentially all of the "truly important" parts of the game are done & fully playable, yet the "bridge scenes" and "space combat" are the two stumbling blocks that prevent the game from being ready to officially add to ScummVM.

As for the text adventures..I never played them. The only text adventures I ever played were "The Pawn", "The Guild of Thieves" and some kind of "Dracula" game, as far as I remember. It might be fun to give that type of game a try again, it's been very long since last time I did.

25th Anniversary, Judgment Rites, and A Final Unity really dominate the Star Trek adventure game collection. They are the best games, obviously, but many people have never heard about the other games.

When you drop a name like Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Harbinger, there aren't too many people who have played it. Not that it's a very good game, but at least it exists. I doubt it's going to be supported very soon, if ever, but having it in ScummVM could draw a little bit attention to it. Whether it deserves it is a different conversation.

The same can be said about Star Trek: Generations, I suppose.
(And very confusingly, Star Trek: First Contact is actually one of those text adventures, which has nothing to do with the later film.)

I actually *do* remember playing "DS9: Harbinger", though I'm not sure whether it was the full game or (more likely) a demo from some "computer mag-cd". All I can really recall, is that I found the graphics to be decent yet the gameplay to be uninspiring. This is another title that I would be inclined to give a fresh chanse. After all, we are not exactly spoiled with "trek adventures".

"Generations", I never played. Mostly due to the fact that I found the movie to be one of the less entertaining "Trek Movies".

I can appreciate your enthusiasm, but there's little point to spamming the thread with your wishlist. It's not going to make any developer more likely to decide to work on them. Please stop doing so.

Thanks @dreammaster, I agree...

Back on track, this is probably too obscure, but "Master of Dimensions" is one of those that was always really hard to play on anything but Widnows 95 (from what I recall). And I have fond memories of it... even though it was buggy... and I never got far... Ah well... I think it was by the same people as "Armed & Delirious", aka "Dementia" (and possibly Down in the Dumps? Maybe? Maybe not).

Southpeak Interactive games, though flawed, may be interesting. "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Temujin".

That's the CRUX engine, there's a WIP implementation for ScummVM (see the links on the wiki page https://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php?title=Crux), I don't know how complete it is, though.
If you are on discord, there's also the dedicated engine-crux channel

Ok, as even titles like the Dynamix games, Dark Seed and Riddle of Master Lu are featured by now, Scumm almost has all titles I could ever wish for supported. Just a tiny handful still on my wishlist I've been thinking about over the years.

I went through the whole thread and these are some games probably within the scope of ScummVM I haven't seen mentioned or not mentioned too often:

- With the newer Necronomicon getting support now, I feel an urge to see a Lovecraft adventure collection completed within ScummVM. Of course Shadow of the Comet and Prisoner of Ice have been asked for millions of times here and I would also love to see them.
But an older text/graphic adventure hybrid that hasn't been mentioned and could be added is THE HOUND OF SHADOW. I played it on Amiga back in the day, but there were DOS and ST ports, too.

- As some older Ultima-style rpg titles have been added (and I would also love for Ultima 1-3 and Ultima 5 to get ScummVM support), I remember playing a Westwood/Infocom sci-fi rpg game called MINES OF TITAN on PC in the early 90s . I think it could fit in with the Scumm Game List.

- With Eye of the Beholder Games getting support, would the blueprint DUNGEON MASTER itself not count in?

- Speaking of Infocom, some of their later adventure titles that made some attempts of providing a more graphical interface still aren't properly supported in ScummVM. I'm thinking of ZORK ZERO mostly (though there may be others of that sort). Files seems to be recognized, but it crashes with some warning it's stil unsupported.

- I'm not sure if OMNICRON CONSPIRACY is not too action-oriented for ScummVM, relying on arcade joystick/gamepad controls and even shooting. It still was an enjoyable sci-fi adventure I wanted to finish on PC for more than 30 years, but never came around to it... Maybe it could still fit in?

And I of course wholeheartedly support X-FILES GAME, DARKSEED 2 and older STAR TREK adventure titles to get included, but they've all been requested plenty of times by now...

The Hound of Shadow, sounds very interesting and I would love see that as well. DUNGEON MASTER, is another title that I recently checked out and you can't discount it's importance as being a bit of a "Trail Blazer" with a number of new innovations in its time. The Ultima titles and Zork Zero would of course also be more than welcome.

Just like you, I'm starting to feel that the "Classical Adventure" part of ScummVM, is now so comprehensive that there are only a few titles more to be desired. As a result, I started to go over old RPG-titles instead last evening. I found a bunch, that all seem rather interesting, they also have in common that they are all titles that I missed/never played in their time:

https://www.mobygames.com/game/3605/bloodwych/
Bloodwych (1989) Released two years after Dungeon Master and decidedly inspired by that game in question.

https://www.mobygames.com/game/258/darklands/
Darklands (1992) A Low Fantasy title that I think is somewhat famous. In a way, you could perhaps describe it as the ancestor of the current "Kingdom Come Deliverance" games.

https://www.mobygames.com/game/2142/anvil-of-dawn/
Anvil of Dawn (1995) An rpg that apparently have similiarities to both the "Eye of he Beholder" games and the "Ultima Underworld" games

Can't say anything about how good these three actually are, but they do look interesting, so I'm throwing them in as suggestions.
