Risc OS on Pi 3 issues.

Post by nozomi »

I've just begun experimenting with Risc OS on the Pi. I followed the documentation to get ScummVM working in the OS and seem to have accomplished it without issues. But I'm not sure what the differences are between the two available releases. One is simply labeled Risc OS, the other is Risc OS VFP. Can anyone explain the differences and which one might work best and why. I'm currently using a Raspberry Pi 3. I've tried both and both seem to work but I see no difference.

Most every game I've tried has worked, but many of the Sierra SCI games do not. Specifically the early 16 color text parser SCI games and some of the 256 color games as well. All the 16 color SCI games seem to complete lockup the system. Games like Space Quest III, King's Quest IV, Police Quest II, Codename Iceman, etc...

The 256 color 320x200 games seem to be a mixed bag. Some games like Eco Quest and Jones in the Fast Lane work. Other like, Space Quest 1 and Leisure Suit Larry 1 seem to make the OS lock-up as well.

Was also unable to get Broken Sword 2.5 to work, it locks up the system when trying to start.

Woops...meant for this to be posted in the "Other Ports" forum.
