Toonstruck Support - Listen ScummVM Team!

Post by Yuruka »

Hey ScummVM team, I just wanted to nudge you toward a game called Toonstruck.

It is, most definitely, one of the best Point'n'Click games ever.

The bad thing is that it wasn't very well received.

Even though the main character is Christopher Lloyd (The doctor from Back to the future) and the secondary main character is voice by Dan Castellaneta (The Voice of Homer/Other characters)

Anyway, if you're reading this, please try to add support for this game.

The website you can purchase it from
http://www.cdaccess.com/html/quick/toonstrpr.htm

And it's only $14.95 too, small fee for a good game.

I personally bought the Sold-Out version in UK (I live in london) and I have both discs (It's 2CD).

This game is equally as fun as Day of the tentacle or Monkey Island in my opinion, the cartoony graphics are deceiving, this game isn't for kids. Trust me, you should know that by the time you get to the cutscene with the bowling alley...

Ehhh...

That was most disturbing..

Anyway, I hope you add support for it!

And keep working on Discworld too!

Thanks for reading

Please use the search function (searching for "Toonstruck" isn't too hard, is it?)

Also wrong subforum, belongs into Junkyard.

Ah right, sorry.

Well it looks like loads of people agree with me, and the more threads about it the higher chance they'll notice it and start working on it right ;P

Unfortunately mass interest isnt likely to make a developer choose the project, although I know the engine shares a few similarities with the kyrandia engine and somebody started working on RE'ing toonstruck(I wont mention his nickname to save him being pestered) Its a long process and will only happen when somebody really interested in the game makes a real effort, I guess it will also require a lot of work with the current kyrandia code base too.

maybe you will see it some day.

I see.

I'd help coding it. Reckon I could get it up and running in a month...

If I get lucky.

And if I still remember how to use everything...

There's another thing: IIRC, Toonstruck is shock full of Smacker videos. And I don't think RAD Game tools changed their views about having their formats RE'd.
Granted, the ffmpeg-project already did and I at least didn't hear of any uproar about it, but still...

Yes, but having to convert such a mass of files is still a major PITA for most people, I'd wager...

It can't be any worse than The Feeble Files though, can it?
