as for a DOTT poster, you can try this guy

http://www.flickr.com/photos/akutou/233996193/

its his own rendition of the original art, I managed to get a copy of it but he has asked me not to pass it on.

you might be lucky and get him to send you a copy

Ah, well, the regular DOTT-cover isn't that hard to "reconstruct", since it's already pretty clean line-art. I'm having bigger plans for it, which incorporates Hoagie and Laverne from the rest of the artwork as well:

But thanks for the heads up anyway!

While we're at DOTT and vectors, to learn Inkscape I did:

(both created after screenshots from the intro)

Great, found a nice place to get the posters printed. Now I just hope the magazine isn't lost in the mail (which seems to have happened to my last auction winning :-/)!

clem: Did you follow any tutorials (if they're good, please share some links :-)) or just mess around to learn it?

Just messed around. As usual, I discovered some useful features only afterwards (snap to grid etc, hehe), so I could basically start over. Those pics are not the latest versions, I still have some a little bit more polished ones on HD.

Check out THIS free online-tool. The best vectorization tool I know.

That's impressive! My first attempt yielded this:

Yeah... it helps to use the tool's "edit" function to erase some rogue pixels, that cause artifacts like the ones between the floor-tiles on your image.

It's even easier to screen-grab the image in "edit"-mode (at 100% zoom!), and paste it in Photoshop (or some other graphics-app), because there you usually have more tools to clean up the image. The result can then be fed into VectorMagic again.

Not bad! I know a lot of artists who still haven't gotten the hang of vector drawing.

Many thanks for this great tool.
My first attempt: Maniac Mansion (PNG) (here is an EPS if anyone interested).

That was such a good idea I just had to give it a go myself. It actually comes out pretty good from VectorMagic already, though the sky, as one would guess, doesn't since it's a gradient. Oh, and it's not perfect, Bernards right shoe (the one to the left) is my work, well the bottom half anyway. Can't find it on any picture so I'm guessing some.

Don't bother, I'm already on it:

I've vectorized all four characters, painting in the missing parts (hello shoe!), and adding shading.

HERE you can download them in EPS-format.

The poster itself isn't finished yet... the thing above is my low-res mockup. I'm building the full-res poster (60x80cm @ 300dpi) as we speak... uhm... type.

EDIT:
You can now download the full-res-version HERE.
