I was just wondering iwhich of the two projects would be better suited for implementing DNoir in a distant future, since Lewton is the only real-time rendered character in the game.

I think if support were added, the general consensus would be that "Holy crap.. Discworld Noir is supported! Awesome". Only then would it be worth worrying about which project to include it in. :) Seriously though, I suspect it'd end up being easier to implement it in ResidualVM, even if most of the core Tinsel library ends up being the same.. it would be easier to render Lewton using the existing framework that ResidualVM provides than trying to simulate the 3D rendering for him entirely in software within ScummVM.
