All the inane chatter goes in here. If you're curious about whether we will support a game, post HERE not in General Discussion :)

Nero AAC audio compression?

Post by SithlordDK »

Anyone ever considered to add support for (Nero) .aac/m4a to ScummVM/Tools?

And is it be possible to compress Discoworld 2 Music (.mus files?) or is it included in the .smp files?

No. AAC is even more patent laden and legally problematic for open source software than MP3 is, so there is really no incentive to add support for it on our side. It doesn't seem to offer any advantage over Ogg Vorbis either.

Hm, I don't think we support compressing those yet. But somebody else might now better.

I guess it wouldn't be too hard to write a compression tool for these, feel free to file a feature request.
