Sound Lag with Nokia 6220 Classic

Post by Demophobie »

Hi Ppl!

Great project here. I really love it.

I have problems with the sound on my Nokia 6220 classic. Every game (DOTT, Simon1 and MI1 etc) works fine - but i have sound lags in every game.
Any Idea?

The lag is not huge, but u can here it clicking a bit.

Thanks a lot

I'm testing with a 6120 classic here, essentially the same hardware as the 6220 and I do not hear any clicks (for fm sounds speech etc). So are you running something else in the background? Nokia maps closed down properly etc?

Hey!

I have no other programm running. Tried it with a fresh reinstall too.

For example in Simon the Sorcerer 1: I encoded the .wav to .mp3 but still the speech and the music is stuttering.
In Simon the .wav-File only includes the speech, could not find a music-file. But the music stutters a lot and i hear this clicking.

In Monkey1 its only midi, isnt it? There it stutters too!

:(

Monkey1 exists as a CD VGA version, Floppy version and some others. I might be able to get my hands on a 6220 test with.

I tried 2 or 3 different versions of Monkey. Every version had this sound lags.

Tell me if you need my help.

Whopps.. the 6220 went on vacation, err I mean the owner. But I have experienced this when running other applications reserving the audio resource, like music player, other game etc. I just tested MISL2 on my 6120 and no stuttering at all.

Hm perhaps the Nokia 6220c reserves the audio resource without letting me know.

Hope the 6220 comes back from vacation soon ;)

No not yet, but you can test the latest svn versions. I have tried this on N95, 6120 and some reports on others and audio is ok.

I wonder if this is becoming a common S60 problem? I read a lot of complaints on the N-Gage forums about a similiar problem with the N81.

Not all N81s have the problem, though, just some chunk of them. The same probably applies to 6220c too.

Don't know if the latest N81 firmware fixes it. Maybe you have to wait for a 6220 classic firmware?

Hey!

I have the newest firmware now. 3.23. I had to change anyway, because this silly software brandings. But no change. Still stuttering.

I have some small stuttering on the ogg encoding on the Broken Sword version I have (Sold out), but not that it sounds very much terrible. Otherwise sound works very well.

Hm, i asked a friend with a 6220c and he has the same problem.

Is your 6220c-friend back from holiday? Would be great if you could test it with his phone too.

I can confirm what Demophobie is experiencing. On my 6220c, using v0.11.1 the sound stutters constantly.

Using the latest pre-0.12.0 build, the sound doesnt work at all.

And another thing (sorry for being off topic) Curse of Monkey Island doesnt work at all using the pre 0.12.0 builds. When you start the game the screen goes black then exits straight to the menu.
