ScummVM error

Post by thestampede »

So, here is the situation. I installed PocketSCUMM 0.9.0 according to SirDave's manual. I installed a bunch of games: Beneath a Steel Sky, Day of the Tentacle, Loom, MI1, MI2, and Sam and Max. The only ones that worked were bass and mi2, and they worked wonderfully. The rest of the kept getting the same error which was

"ScummVM error. Unrecoverable exception occurred - see crash dump ...".
This was getting quite frustrating.

So, then I installed 0.9.1 and I don't get that error anymore. I get a different one and this time it does it for all the games. The error is:

"Assertion failed w <= MAX_MOUSE_W (..\..\..\backends\wince\wince-sdl.cpp,1670)"

Please help me!!! I really want to play these games...they bring back such great memories!

Thanks,
Sander

This is your first post. Congratulations. However for some reason you decided to ignore that big "READ BEFORE POST" which sits on every forum, also same thing happened with "Rules" which sits on every page in the up right corner.

Anyway, Forum Rule #3a.

Sorry about that! I read the rules and they say "Don't post bugs", but I see people before me asking similar questions. What is the difference with the bugtracker? Doesn't that only affect the next release of the program? I was hoping to get it to work as soon as I can? Thanks!

Free up some memory and also take a look at this strange bug found by Frank here.

in his post, frank says that the program is stable until 2000 bytes, but my file was only about 900 and it was still crashing.

Also occuring in this post, this still seems to me like a low memory condition. Please state the type of your device and available free memory.

Update on my situation:

I deleted the .ini file. I then ran ScummVM. I chose a game and it worked. I quit then went back into the program and tried to run the game again. The error showed up. It showed whatever game I tried the second time.

I deleted the .ini file again. Ran a different game and it worked. Same situation.

So I do think it has something to do with the size of the .ini file. What to do about it? That I don't know.

On a side note: Some of the games I tried...like MI1, when I quit the game, it sort of froze up and didn't quit to the desktop.

Any help? haha

Thanks,
Sander

Here's something interesting:

I found this same exact thing that I am talking about on the bugtracker here:

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.ph ... tid=418820

It looks to me like there weren't any replies...That's not very helpful.

This is quite low, try to free up to around 10 Megs and try again.
