How Do You Use ScummVM?

Post by nevataries »

I downloaded scummVM, but I can't figure out how to use it! Also, I've seen screenshots of scummVM, and the layout of the program looks alot different than what it looks like on my Palm Pilot.
Can someone give me steps on how to start playing a game on my palm pilot using scummVM? I'd like to try playing a humongous entertainment game. Thanks!

Hello,
followed the steps in http://forums.scummvm.org/viewtopic.php?t=3334 carefully ?? Where exactly is the problem ?
What device are you using (is it compatible with ScummVm http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/PalmO ... ility_List) ?
Check also if your game is compatible with ScummVm (http://www.scummvm.org/compatibility.php). Note that this does not mean, these games all work on the PalmOS port - i have no clue if Humongous games work at all on PalmOS

Got Most of the Information I Need

Post by nevataries »

Okay, I have the game "Putt-Putt Travels Through Time" on the list of games. (Thanks to the link you gave me, sending me to the ScummVM Manual thingy...) To answer your questions, by the way, I have a Palm Tungsten T3, and ScummVM is supposed to be compatible with it. Also, Putt-Putt Travels through time is compatible with ScummVM. The only questions I have now are:
-What engine am I supposed to use to run Humongous Entertainment Games? (I have no idea which enine I need to use to run it.)
-On the list of data files needed to run this game on ScummVM, there are: * PuttTTT.HE0,* PuttTTT.(A),* PuttTTT.HE2, and *PuttTTT.HE4. I don't know if I need to have ALL these files, and if I do, I don't even have all these files! I looked under the program files on my Windows computer, and found the folder called, "PuttTTT", however, the only file in this folder that matched the data files that I supposedly need to have, is "PuttTTT.HEO". Is this the only file I need to use to run the game?
If you can help me with these two problems, that would be great! Thanks for your help on your last reply, thatgui.

These

http://forums.scummvm.org/viewtopic.php ... =humongous

http://forums.scummvm.org/viewtopic.php ... =humongous

two links indicate, that you have to choose the "ScummVM Games" - engine for humongous games. But they also indicate that it is unlikely (but not impossible) that the game will run properly on your palm.
I can't help you with your file problem though. If you haven't already, try to run the game with the Windows Version of ScummVM. If it's working there you have all the required files.

I Guess Humongous Entertainment Games Don't Work With PalmOS

Post by nevataries »

I didn't have all the right files for Putt-Putt (I tried the Windows version of ScummVM), so I tried downloading the demo of Freddy Fish 3. I thought that the download directly from the ScummVM site would have all the necessary data files, and sure enough it did. I added that game to ScummVM, and it didn't generate any error messages this time, it just crashed. So, like you said, I guess Humongous Entertainment Games don't work with PalmOS. Thanks for you help anyways!
