Curse of Monkey Island and PSP fat on 5.00 M33

Post by Kek »

Hi All!

I have some small questions regarding the PSP port of ScummVM.
COMI is always crashing on my PSP (phat).
I can see the intro but as soon as I can command Guybrush, the game freeze in the minute (some time 10 seconds, some time 1 minute after I can play)

Is it a problem with the Ram limitation of the Phat?
The Memory stick is too slow?
Does it work on a slim?
I tried the official RC1 version, those night builds, pix version and (the best for my phat) Bluddy's version.(http://www.speedyshare.com/873512707.html)

Is there a tweak or a plugin to be able to play this game?

Thanks in advance

I've played the whole game on a phat. It shouldn't be as bad as all that, especially if you are using one of the versions with Bluddy's patch. Not sure I can recommend much though.

Which version of 5.00 M33 have you got? You could upgrade if its an old one. It's working for me on 5.00 M33-6.

Mmmmhhh I'm on the same version 5.00 M33-6.
I think it's the Memory stick that cannot keep the speed.
I will try with another stick (a smaller one).

And Pix2 do you have plugins enabled on your Phat?
I will try without plugins too.
Thanks ;)

I'm not using any plugins so turning them off sounds like a good idea.

I've got a better memory stick since but I can't imagine the one you are using can be much slower than the one I finished the game on. If you haven't done already you could recompress the video and audio using scummtools which could help a bit if your memory card is that slow. I converted all the audio to ogg format before I played it. If nothing else it will get the game down to about 580mb.

In the m33 recovery menu(hold right trigger when booting the PSP), have you enabled the fast memstick reading setting? Forgot what it was called but it should be in the configs somewhere. Also to make sure that in the VSH menu, the CPU is set to 333/133 for ingame as well.

Assuming you haven't already done these things. In which case, dunno.
