Full Throttle Demo should only come with one copy of the demo, not five

Full Throttle Demo won't run on Mac OS X

Post by getagb »

I'm running OS X 10.4.4, and I'm trying to use ScummVM to run the Full Throttle Demo I downloaded here. When I run ScummVM and press "Add Game..." then browse to the directory containing "Full Throttle Demo Data," ScummVM gives me a list of five items that say "Full Throttle." I've added all of them, and whenever I try to run any of them (by pressing "Start") ScummVM quits unexpectedly. If, in the game preferences, I set the "Platform" attribute to "Macintosh," then when I start the game I receive the error Cannot find file: 'ft.la0' and then ScummVM quits after a few seconds.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Oh, also: I'm running an iMac with a 2.1 GHz G5 cpu and with 2.5gb of ram, so I don't think the problem is the bug related to the G3s... And my Scumm is 0.8.0a. Hope that helps.

Are there any further debugging messages written to the console that may help solve this problem??

I can't reproduce this problem (under OS X 10.4.4), neither with HEAD CVS nor 0.8.1.

Anyway, see also forum rule #3a.

It's in the Utilities folder (/Applications/Utilities), select the console.log file in the left pane (click on the Logs icon if the left pane is missing) and see if there are any other messages.

Unknown MD5 (9b7452b5cd6d3ffb2b2f5118010af84f)! Please report the details (language, platform, etc.) of this game to the ScummVM team
Cannot find file: 'ft.la0'!
I'm not sure what the heck ScummVM has to do with DivX and QuickTime. Also, why wouldn't it recognize the MD5, and why is it even looking for a file called ft.la0 if it's the Mac version of the game?

It looks like a bug to me, does everyone else agree? (If so, I'll report it as a bug in the proper place.)

The message about "ft.la0" is normal, as that is the fallback file name.

Anyway, what *is* the demo's filename on your system? "Full Throttle Demo Data" ?
