Secret of Monkey Island: MT-32 music + AdLib sound?

Hello. I recently began playing the EGA version of The Secret of Monkey Island with MT-32 music and I'm having a blast. However, I noticed that it doesn't play sound effects while in that mode, and I have to change it back to AdLib to have them play. Is there any way to have the MT-32 music and the AdLib sound effects at the same time in this version of the game? The game feels really empty without sound effects, but I really love that sweet MT-32 music. I'm playing the spanish version, in case that makes any difference.

Have you tried using the Mixed AdLib/MIDI mode? I don't know if that works for this game, but it looks like this might do what you want.
