Broken Sword 1 Playstation crashes

The Playstation version of Broken Sword Shadow of the Templars crashes ScummVM before the game starts.
I have all the datafiles from the PS1 version of Broken Sword and added it in the gamelist.
The error has to do with something related to bad_alloc.

Any solutions to make the game run without crashing?
