Broken Sword 1 - unable to play through Scumm VM

Post by Nowhere Girl »

I have the smaller DOS version of BS1. However, when I run it in DOSBox, the game asks for CD1. Later it proceeds OK, but I remember that later, after asking for CD2, the game used to crash.
I tried installing the larger (Windows) version, playable only through Scumm VM, but the program says that some files are missing.
I read somewhere that it's possible to bypass the CD problems by playing the DOS version through Scumm VM instead. However, I get the same response about missing files... What should I do now? If it's generally possible to run this game with DOSBox, can I keep it from crashing?

Have you read the thread titled How to run multi-disc games! (CoMI, Broken Sword, etc.)?

I suspect this is your issue. You should not use the original game installer to play the game with ScummVM. Instead you should just copy the required files from the two CDs to a directory on your disk, renaming a few files in the process, as described in the thread I liked to above. You can also find the list of files you need (and which ones you need to rename) here:http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Dataf ... e_Templars
