space quest collection/ vga issue

Post by sibs »

I recently purchased the Space Quest Collection but am having trouble playing the first game.

The audio loops when I start SQ1 VGA using the program provided on the CD (DOSbox) so I tries to play it using SCUMMVM, but SCUMMVM does not see the game file when I try to check the game folder.

I know it works because I am able to play Space Quest 2 using scummVM but not SQ1.

please help, I'm no good with dosbox and have no idea what's wrong.

EDIT: the same thing happens when I try to play SQ 3-6 using scummvm, it says "could not find game in specified directory"

Which ScummVM version are you using?
What operating system are you on -- Windows? Windows 7, Vista, XP, .. ?

That explains it.. you're using a *very* old version of ScummVM. You need at least version 1.2 to play most of the Space Quest games. See the Compatibility page on the ScummVM website if you're interested in what games each released version supports. I'd suggest downloading and installing the current 1.3 release.
