Android 5.0 (in)compatibility?

Post by Wormsworth »

Google just updated android and ScummVM does not want to run.
I get the splash screen for a couple of seconds and quits back to the loader.
Tried uninstall/reinstall and get message from Google marketplace

"Unknown error code during application install: *-505*"
(from play store and local install)

I installed all the related game files and it installed ok, but still crashed at flash screen. Re-downloaded from source forge and same results.

Nexus 7 (2gen)32G Android 5.0

W.

P.S.
Still works great on Android 4.4 (my old tablet)
P.P.S.
Just noticed that this was answered, but where is the download?
Tried the Stable build, no luck, would this be under the 'daily'? Will try that one.
P.P.P.S.
Downloaded the full 'development' builds and it works like a charm - sorry to have bothered you.

Hello,

Unfortunately the development build would not install on nexus 10 with the latest android 5.
The scummvm installed from play store loads and quits.
Thank you for your help!

Why doesn't it install?

clone2727: Android gives wonderfully detailed error messages to the user such as "This application did not install" so he probably does not know.

pcserna: Can you please try again and check the logs using https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... t&hl=en_GB to see what ERROR is associated with this? Thanks.

digitall: I installed alogcat, but it shows the same: W/InputEventReceiver( 8198): Attempted to finish an input event but the input event receiver has already been disposed.

Nothing else...
Maybe the logger is not compatible with Android 5 as well...

pcserna: I suspected that might be the case. You will probably need to use ADB with a USB cable. See here for references:

When you say "Running App from Play Store" is that 1.5.0?

ScummVM in the Play Store is usually outdated (due to REASONS which you can see on other threads). Try the latest nightly build instead:

Another thing to do is to enable the ANR option as per:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/215 ... -debugging

That will stop Android killing it if it thinks it has hung..

OK I have a Verizon s5 developer edition running Cyanogen mod 12 which is Android 5.0. I'm not sure which daily to go with. Also which apk file do I install from the zip?

Thanks for the help!

I can confirm that 1.7.0 (Play Store Combined APK) doesn't work on the Nexus 4, Android 5.0 (LRX21T) build anymore. It did on KitKat 4.4.

The nightly build I just downloaded this morning works fine though (1.8.0git1783-g1f80e13)

Is there an easy way to combine the APK's from the nightly builds into the single style used on the play store to save me having to install each one?

Cheers,
Sam

You need the Android ARM binaries..

You must install at least ScummVM.apk, and the Engine matching the games you want too play.. for example for Secret of Monkey Island thats a Scumm game so you need scummvm-engine-scumm.apk as well.

Theres a table showing which engine is for which games here: http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Engines

johnboy693: Please see the notes here on installing daily builds for Android:
http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Android#Daily_Builds

Specifically you need to ensure that you have uninstalled all previous versions _AND_ plugins. The plugins do not show up in the normal launcher. You need to remove them from the Apps list under Settings. They all start with "ScummVM ".

Hi there,

I'm also having trouble getting ScummVM to work properly on Lollipop (Nexus 4, Android 5.0.2).

I'd like to play Indy 4, so I installed the latest development build (ARM) as well as the scummvm-engine-scumm.apk from the latest stable build-ZIP.

Both apks install without any errors. But when I try to add a game directory, ScummVM can't find any games. The "About" screen shows no available engines, so I guess that could be a problem, right?

Any suggestions what I need to do?

Thanks
