How to cleanly install an iPhone daily build onto iTouch?

Post by marzipan »

I'm aware that you use dpkg (or even the Cydia autoinstall trick) to install debs, but the daily build is being distributed in a tar.bz2 format, with no deb inside, so I'm not sure how you go about installing it without resorting to manual file-copying.

I fear that by not going through an install process the device won't acknowledge or load the app properly somehow. Are my fears unfounded?

well as you're phone's jailbroken(it's gotta be), you can install appsync from cydia (google around). not exactly sure what it does specifically but it allows you to add apps to itunes that will sync with your ipodtouch.

so what i do then is:
-download the .bz2 file
-open with winrar
-extract the scummvm.app folder
-drag and drop the folder into itunes (ie, add scummvm.app as an app into itunes)
-sync
-PLAY
-beware the daily build bugs!

You sure there's no way of doing it without iTunes somehow? I tend to mostly avoid that program for many reasons. =P

I might try and see if simply replacing the executable in my existing ScummVM directory on the device will help...

Will have to wait till I get home though.
