Caanoo 1.2.0 preview 1 feedback

Post by pierreS »

I tried the Caanoo 1.2.0 preview 1 for Caanoo.
Great work.
Thanks a lot. All games I tried seems to work fine.

The main issue with the Caanoo port is the button layout.
Especially the start/select/home ones.

The button that is supposed to be mapped to the "home" button is actually the "hold" switch. Not really practical

In fact, the names of the buttons on the caanoo are "help I", "help II" for the "start" and "select" buttons on the left, and "home" for the right one, so I don't know exactly what action each one is supposed to trigger, reading the README-CAANOO file.

Hope this helps.

Thanks again for the great work.

PS : maybe an editable key mapping file could help to find the right button mappings. I could try and change the keys, and give you a feedback of the right key mappings.

pierreS,

The README files are not completely upto date in the preview. Sorry, just something I forgot to do :o, the control layout only got set just before I did the release.

Did you review http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Caanoo as this contains the complete breakdown of the control layout (as suggested when you downloaded the preview ;)).

EDIT: By all means suggest a better control layout but remember that the Cannoo is short of buttons (the reason a lot of the Left Trigger + ?? button combos exist in the 1st place).

thanks for the quick reply.

I apologize for reading the controls page too quickly.

So you can keep only the part of my post where I congratulate you for the great work ;)

Hi,

I tried some of my games on the Caanoo Port and I have a problem with Loom, it crashes when I launch it.

I have a Wiz, and the problem is the same.

When I add it, I have two choices : PCengine or FmTowns.

I chose both and it crashes each times.

I tried to change the language, but the result is the same.

On my Wiz, it worked on the 1.0.0 Scummvm version, but doesn't on the 1.2.0.

Any ideas ?

I don't know anything abuot the Caanoo port, but I think the obvious question here is: Which version of Loom is it really?
