How to do the trick

Post by JakeTails »

Now I say what we must to have to do this trick:

- PlayStation 2 with the "exploit" on Memory Card trick;
- LaunchELF 3.41 on Memory Card previously installed;
- USB PenDrive PS2 Compatible (MaxDrive USB, iPod ecc.);
- ScummVM 0.8.0 RC2 Files (because the RC3 files don't work);
- Windows Notepad (To create the DUMMY file and COPY.CNF File)
- CDGen v.3 (Supports the creation of CDX Image File);
- MCLoader v.1.35 (Supports CDX);
- CD-Burning Software (I use Nero Burning ROM 7)
- Games Files

Step-by-Step Instructions

1) With Notepad I make a Dummy file: I write a txt file with only "0" in it... (Example: 0000000000000000 ecc...) until the file dimension was about 25MB. After I saved it as "DUMMY.DAT"

2)With Notepad again I make a new file and I write exactly in it:

TITLE ScummVM 0.8.0 PS2 Port
RUN SCUMMVM.ELF

I save this file as "COPY.CNF"

3) I make a CDX Image File with CDGen v.3 contents the .IRX files of ScummVM and Game Files n their respective directory such Monkey Island 1, 2, Day of The Tentacle ecc...

4) I burn this CDX Image File with Nero 7

5) On the USB PenDrive (my iPod Shuffle), I copy the SCUMMVM.ELF, COPY.CNF and MCLOADER.ELF.

6) As launcher on PS2 I got LaunchELF 3.41 and with it I can make Directory and copy files from the USB Drive on my Memory Card and so I make a directory called "SCUMMVM" and I copy SCUMMVM.ELF and COPY.CNF in it. After I make a new directory called "MCLOADER" and I copy MCLOADER.ELF in it.

7)After, with LaunchELF 3.41, I run MCLOADER.ELF

8)Enter the CDX that you've made with Nero and wait until you hear the CD runs on PS2

9)Now the title screen of this program you can see "Application in the MC" and press X button on it

10)Now you'll be able to see at top of the list this: ScummVM 0.8.0 PS2 Port

11)Press X button on it and enjoy ScummVM!

It works correctly with all games (I don't try to emulate Curse of Monkey Island because it's too big to make a CDX)

If you want I can take some snapshots and post it to demostrate...

Another Question...

In RC3 don't recognize the CDX... why this can only support by RC2?

lol to JakeTails' second messege, but:

I would agree with him, the RC3 differs from RC2 in that way, and it's impossible to create a CDX that would be acceptable
