Now you can see subtitles in Broken Sword 1 cutscenes

Post by sev »

Since ScummVM 0.10.0 there has been unannounced support for subtitles in the Broken Sword 1 cutscenes.

Now we finally managed to provide a package with subtitles for the following languages: English, Brazilian, German, Spanish, French, Italian and Russian. Also, subtitles for the English demo are provided.

You can grab the package from the downloads page.

At the moment we still lack Czech subtitles, thus if you're willing to help us with providing them, please contact sev.

That's pretty cool right there, for lovers of subtitles. :)

These are good news :D
Is this support strictly related with Broken Sword? would it be possible to see it implemented for kyrandia 3 or loom?
Thanks

No, those are completely irrelevant game engines, and the work has to be performed from the scratch.

Sorry to bring the topic back up but i've only just found out about this. I've just tried it and it works great - many thanks:)

Were subtitles included in the orginal release? Or is this a new feature?

The original games features subtitles during gameplay, but unfortunately not during cutscenes. I had the luck that most of the subtitles we used were included in a ressource file of the game (thought not always in a linear order), although they aren't accessed at all. The ones that weren't there had to be written by hearing by sev.

Are there any plans to support subtitles for the Broken Sword 2 cutscenes?

That should work already, since it was a feature of the original game. You mean it doesn't?

Oh, right. Sorry, I wasn't sure if they were or not. Never mind. :)
