Well we already have four different game demos for Freddy Pharkas:

Thought I'd treat you folks to what seems like an obscure *second* alternate (English) version of the PlayFate demo. I had the files backed up on an old ScummVM DVD I made some years ago. I personally call it the "v73" demo since that's the number that pops up in the Ctrl+V info.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UX2V1RE6

Checksum details follow:

Code: Select all

  File: PLAYFATE.000
CRC-32: ff19fa0b
   MD4: a36d1e22301f956418e899792daca7ef
   MD5: 12cdc256eae5a461bcc9a49975999841
 SHA-1: 0b3f93b24ed50dfe97a7aaa1382410e24d6f13cb

  File: PLAYFATE.001
CRC-32: 6a102dea
   MD4: 61349ff4f63e6b2970b212e627eb78c2

 SHA-1: b27fd23022ee97be62c0b2aeaffabeac636ce136
Unfortunately it contains only the two data files, and I've been unable to track down the original archive I got them from again throughout the net. Maybe I might have it backed up somewhere on an old disc, if I get time to search.

The checker pack is available in this link.

Unpack this zip an empty folder, copy the required file in this folder, and run Checker.bat.
- If Checker is done, then you can find the real ScummVM md5 in the *.txt file first 32 characters of the first line.
- If this cheksum is found in the list entry, then you've found a missing demo.

In this case please upload the demo anywhere and share us the link.
Thanks

I found The 7th Guest demo in the full game's folder. It's basically just a looping cutscene. I'm not sure how to rip it, there's a DEMO.GRV, but the game doesn't run with just that file and the executable. If someone can help me piece together the demo, I might be able to upload it, if it's legal to do so.

Does anyone happen to have the short interactive demo from Return to Zork? I think it may have been included on the Zork Anthology CD (or possibly even the Return to Zork CD itself). I remember it was very short, consisting of the mountain pass, lighthouse and then ending when you took the raft down the river.

EDIT: I managed to check the Return to Zork CD. It only contained demos for Battletech, Simon the Sorcerer 1 and some Richard Scarry game.

Thanks
Andy

Should I upload the Plantefall demo

Post by Truus999 » Wed Dec 09, 2009 7:27 pm

I've got the planetfall demo from activision (came out at the same time as return to zork, so the game probably would have been a made engine game)

It's a movie (nothing interactive) file extension is .ibm.
Should I make it available?

See this topic
viewtopic.php?p=55197#55197

And there is also a RtZ demo, havn't got that running yet to confirm it's interactive

Cheers,
René

Im not sure the planetfall game uses made?
not according to the list of MADE games at
http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/MADE

That RTZ demo sounds interesting, maybe you could compare the
data files with this RTZ demo http://demos.robertmegone.com/made/rtz- ... emo-en.zip

Id like to see the demo failing that. I can check and upload it otherwise.

I need to install the demo first to compare it to the non interactive one (I own that one myself so I can compare them myself). Time is the one thing I'm in short supply of ;-(

About the planetfall game. There never was a planetfall II game, they pulled the plug before the game was made so the only thing in existence (afaik) is this demo movie. I'm sure if the game would have been completed it would have been a made game.

edit:stupid typo

These are the all planetfall movies I could find online:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QxZgwQdd70
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCa3XuGM7yI

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6RpHdhJl1M

I wonder if there were supposed to be two games? (as in the first two were the first attempt at the game, then the third movie was the second attempt?)

Here is what the producer of "Return to Planetfall" told me directly:

"Steve Meretzky, the original Planetfall designer/developer wrote a great design and premise for the game, but it got stuck in bit of a "developement hell" (a Hollywood term) trying to get screen writers to make an interactive story out of it.

We started on the visual designs and they were stunning. In the end, though, Activision decided to cancel the project... well before we got into serious production."

Hello everyone !

Here is a copy of a CD containing the Dutch, English, French, German and Italian demos of the following games :

(titles in French, sorry, I don't know their correct translations)
- Pyjama Sam: Héros du Goûter (Heros of the snack time ?)
- Marine Malice: Le mystère de Ranch aux Cochons (Freddi Fish: The mystery of the Pig Ranch ?)
- Pouce-Pouce: Voyage dans le temps (Putt-Putt: Travels in time)
- Spy Fox: Opération "Robot-Expo"

Hope it helps !
