Igor engine

Post by sanguinehearts »

I just have a couple of questions in relation to the implementation of the Igor engine,

obviously its a massive amount of work and Im certainly aware that It will be ready when it is.

however, Id like to know if the recent 'freewaring' of the full game is anything to do with scummvm.
also It appears that the svn commits have stalled,
is there anything that users can do to help out?
or is it possible that negotiations are beginning for a source release?

actually considering that there is to be a new release of scummvm, Is it to ensure that bugs dont creep in that may delay the release?

also I was doing a little bit of googling and came across
these beauties on cyx's page:

http://cyx.dnsalias.org/scummvm/igor/igor-demo1.jpg
and
http://cyx.dnsalias.org/scummvm/igor/igor-demo2.jpg

what are these?
they certainly dont fit with the graphical style of the original game or the demos.

finally I've been looking high and low for a place to buy the original game, I see butterfly media but I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than use them.
anyone know of a place?
gametz has a couple for trade but Ive nothing to offer

Thanks for bringing another classic game and engine to scummvm Cyx, and I wish you all the best of luck with it.

Not wanting to bump another thread this old (http://forums.scummvm.org/viewtopic.php?t=4859), but relating more to the engine..

Is there a link to any talkie version by now? and how about the full dosversion which is available on many freeware sites now.. but seeing that one is only 4MB packed I can't imagine it being the talkie version..

How is the igor engine done? with that I mean, is it done using source or is it done by just playing the game and figuring out what all possibilities are?
I have just glanced at the code in svn and see that the 'freeware' version is not detected yet, only 2 demo's and a talkie (spanish I guess)..

Is someone doing work on this one? because if noone isn't I might at least try something with it locally just to see if I get how you enhace this game.. but first I'll play the game using dosbox before I'm doing anything hehe..

I dont think the game is officially freewared, although I remember some discussion about it was happening.

as for the engine, its based upon reverse engineering of the games executable file, and as far as I know progress has stalled.

Looks like he gave up on reverse engineering the hardcoded logic and is just interpreting it from the exe now.

Please take notice that the code is not under GPL. At least now.
