Extract BUN files

Post by Lechuck »

How do I extract the BUN files without a re-compress?

Want to extract the music files in COMI, but don't know how since the way I used compress_scumm_bun it just extracted and compressed it in one move, now I just want an extraction.

Can I do that with the compress_scumm_bun tool? If so with what syntax?

There is no tool for doing that at this time, and I believe ScummEX never did it, either.

It would be possible to write such a tool based on compress_scumm_bun, in theory, but it's not likely that we'll do this at any time soon, as there is no need for the project itself to do so.

Maybe the new ScummEX, written during the Google Summer of Code, will eventually feature support for this, but I wouldn't bet on it either (if at all it would be rather low on the priority list).

Nope, I never "knew" it -- this Windows-only tool simply doesn't run on any computer I've owned in the past 10 years or so :-/. Hence, no idea what it can do and what not.

Oh, I didn't know you didn't know it :)

It's basically what ScummEx aims to do (I think) - it can open pretty much all SCUMM-related files from different SCUMM-versions and display images, costumes, play music and of course extract it all to various file formats.
