Running The Longest Journey

Post by phantom »

Hello,

I found the section Running The Longest Journey on GitHub.
How can I add this game to ResidualVM? I got the message: ScummVM could not find any game in the specified directory!

I hope you can help me.

Best regards,

phantom

The Longest Journey is not supported by official builds as of yet, however you can likely give it a try with a daily, unstable build from here:
http://www.residualvm.org/downloads/#daily

You will need to follow these instructions in order to set-up your files:
https://github.com/residualvm/residualv ... st-journey
(it's the same from your link)

Keep in mind that development for the Longest Journey is still ongoing in ResidualVM.

Thank you Nitrus,

I found some not translated strings in this build. Perhaps I can help.
But I don't find the german language file on GitHub.

Hmm, I thought language strings would have come from the game data...
Or if you're talking about ResidualVM GUI you may want to take a look here:
https://github.com/residualvm/residualv ... m/de_DE.po

I am not that familiar with The Longest Journey data structure though, so you may need to ask on iRC or submit a Github issue.

Correct, I am talking about the ResidualVM GUI. Strange, all strings are translated in the po file which I have missed in the daily build.
Where I can find the original po file (en_EN.po)?

English is likely the fallback for the string values throughout the code, so it's possible that an English file just isn't needed.
Have a look at the README here:
https://github.com/residualvm/residualv ... residualvm

Run step 1) and generate a new template file.
Try to compare the newly generated residualvm.pot file against the German one. Maybe some lines are new, and are missing from the German translation?
There is always the possibility that something didn't get localized, but rather hard-coded.

What is the text for the non-translated string you found?
