Hi everyone!
My Macbook Pro hard drive crashed and I was about a third into year two. I lost everything and I'm trying to get back to that point. I copy and pasted one of the saves from http://www.grimfandango.net/?page=saves but when I put it in the Residual save folder, the game won't open it. I've tried loading from Residual and from within the game itself.
What am I doing wrong!
Thanks!
P.S. This is my first post and I'm a huge Grim Fandango (and LucasArts in general) fan! Been a fan of Grim since I was about 8 years old. Got my jewel case version from a new website called Amazon. Haven't played the game in years (due to it not working on modern machines), so it's been SUPER exciting playing though it again! Buying a PS4 mainly for that remake!
Anyway, that's my intro.

ResidualVM cannot load saves from the original game.
You could enable debug mode to jump to spot close to where you were originally, though.

It should be located at ~/Library/Preferences/ResidualVM Preferences , you can open it with any text editor.

ResidualVM Preferences is not under /Library/PreferencesBotje wrote:It should be located at ~/Library/Preferences/ResidualVM Preferences , you can open it with any text editor.

The Library directory in your home, not /Library in the system.

Yeah, I'm not looking in /System/LibraryBotje wrote:The Library directory in your home, not /Library in the system.
I'm looking in Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences and it's not there.
Re: Issue loading saves on Mac
That is what I meant by "the system /Library".
There is a Library folder in your user's home directory as well, which is where the ResidualVM configuration file should be.
Searching for "osx library folder" brings up a couple of results that look like they should work. http://www.macworld.com/article/2057221 ... ricks.html is one.
Alternatively, you can just navigate to it using the terminal.
Start Terminal.app, and type the following:
it should bring up a Finder window to the Library in your home directory.
You can navigate to Preferences from there.

Thank you!!!
Re: Issue loading saves on Mac
For future reference: CMD-SHIFT-G in Finder opens a dialogue that allows you to enter a specific path, put ~/Library in there and you'll get the relevant folder.
